A new era with Taylor Swift

The new Uptown Girl Loves to Sing stamp from Stamping Bella was inspired by Taylor Swift's costume on her Era's tour and its a great stamp for the swifties in your life (or for anyone entering a new era too!!!)

As soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to give it the full on glitter treatment so stamped it it onto white card, then stamped the head again for a quick bit of decoupage.  I did it this way so I could have all the glittery bit of the costume showing through her hair without cutting out two tiny bits of glitter card but you can do it flatter if you prefer.

You can see what I coloured on the different layers - essentially her legs and the arm in the air on the base layer with the one strand of hair that's behind that arm.  (I add colour to the edges on the base layer in case it shows underneath)  For the top layer I cut around the curls and the arm with the microphone and stuck that layer ontop of the glitter leotard.  For that I stamped the middle of her onto glitter card and trimmed it.  To make it look more like the costume I added more glitter in the form of stickles on top.

I did the same with her boots - stamped directly onto glitter card and trimmed with scissors - this time I added some darker shading with a copic marker - copics will colour glitter cardstock - just dot and dab rather than stroke so the nib isn't damaged by the sharp bits.

As Taylor is such a super star I thought she'd sit really well on the new Star Stream background from The Greetery.  There is a die, embossing folder, stencil and hot foil plate to choose from in this collection.  I tried a full on stencilled version but it was too much for this card and Taylor was lost, so I went for something more simple.  I used a nice blue in the Embossing Folder so there was lots of lovely texture and infilled some of the debossed stars in white which were cut using the matching die.  

I stamped the sentiment that goes well with the Taylor inspired stamps on more white card to give her something to stand on - its a great sentiment for a big birthday and you could add a number to the big star to match.
