Cute Christmas Robins

Cute Christmas Robins

It's official!.... Christmas crafting has started in my little creative space and despite having lots of older seasonal stash to play with, I've used new stash and turned the MFT cardinals dies into a couple of robins....

Just like my autumnal card a couple of weeks ago I die cut the pieces in white card and then used my Mini Media mat and distress oxides to colour them. It makes the process much quicker and I love the matt chalky effect when the ink has dried. I cut two of the bird bodies that face forward and flipped one so they could snuggle together on the branch. I used a metal shim to give a smoother effect on the reverse of the die cut which my normal cutting plate would not do.

I die cut three branches and extra holly leaves so I could arrange a twiggy branch for them to perch on and then kept the design simple by stippling an area of blue ink as a backdrop. I find the Distress blending brushes good for this technique especially when the card is textured like the ribbed panel I used. The sentiment is from an older Paper Smooches set called Holly Jolly and it seemed to be the perfect choice.

Not to be left out, I used the other little robin on a separate card and kept it clean and simple...

I used Mama Elephants Whimsy alpha dies to stack up the letters to make the word and used this little robin as the 'O' . A layer of glitter paper gives sparkle but keeps the white on white look so he stands out... oh and his legs are stamped using a couple of images from MFT's Flamazing, clever eh? :)

I hope you think they're cute too... thanks for stopping by :)
