Dandy Lion

Dandy Lion

If you know me, you know that Stamping Bella was one of my first loves in the stamping world and I still have all my OG Bella babes, so I do get super-excited when they bring out a new range and I immediately fell in love with Mr Dandy Lion!    So here are a couple of cards made with two of the stamps he features in.

Firstly I started with Planty Dandy Lion and did a little water colouring with him - not my strongest colouring medium so I need the practice.  Although most of the SB-Samples show him rainbow I wanted him more like a real lion so stuck to shades of yellow ochres.  As they no longer make dies for the bella stamps, I set about fussy cutting leaving a border to make it look like a die cut so I could pop him onto an embossed background using the new Altenew Floating Foliage embossing folder.  I used the debossed side as I liked the look better.   I finished the card with a simple sentiment from MFT's Bitty Birthday Wishes stamp set which is one of the most used stamps in my arsenal as its packed with useful birthday related sentiments.

For the second card I used Fly Away Dandy Lion and went back to my current colouring comfort zone of pencils.  I stamped him on grey board and coloured in ochres again and cut him out.  I wanted to pop him on an action wobbler now we have them back in stock but in cutting the dandilion heads were too heavy and bent the thin stem!  So I glued some acetate behind and trimmed around it to add strength - this unbalanced him so I added two extra layers of card behind his feet.  Action Wobblers if you are new to them are basically a plastic spring which you stick behind an element on your card to add motion - lots of fun!

To create the card I used an oval stencil and distress oxides in speckled egg and peacock feathers to create a light spot to match the highlights on dandy lion.   I added a few dots of stickles to the flower heads and let them drift onto the card as if they were blowing away in the wind.   The sentiment also comes from Fly Away Dandy Lion.

NEWS FROM THE STORE

I've not been doing the news updates, as I've not had time to blog each week and I've not been able to say for certain when we'll get stuff added to store.  This hasn't really changed much!  We are still getting stock in as fast as we can, but it's taking longer once it gets here to get it online as I only get time to do it at weekends or in the evenings and due to my health issues, some nights I'm just too wiped out from the long working day to continue working into the night after cooking dinner.   We hope to be able to return to more "normal" soon as things with covid change.   Watch this space.

We've just finished adding a tonne of stock from Art Impressions.  This week we have Waffle Flower Crafts, MFT and Mama Elephant to add.   We've also got Colorado Craft Company in transit and expect both Concord and 9th and Altenew to ship at some point this week.   We are going to be the exclusive UK stockist of Purple Onion Designs stamps and will be starting with their latest release at the end of April so keep an eye out for those coming soon.   We also need to place an order today for a new Lawn Fawn release that's coming in May.   We'll get through all the new arrivals as soon as we can, but please don't inundate us with emails and messages on social asking when it will be ready as the answer is "asap" but that's a how long is a piece of string kind of question!   You can find out what's been added by checking the "new in" section and ensuring you have it sorted by newest.   Or as always, we announce new arrivals as they happen on Facebook so engage with the page regularly to keep us in your newsfeed.

That's all for this week folks - hopefully I will try and be back more regularly in the future but I can't promise it will be every Sunday at this stage.
