Fairytale Books and January Colour Challenge

Fairytale Books and January Colour Challenge

As you may know, I managed to tear my bicep over Christmas so I've been unable to craft (or do much at all to be honest!) but I've managed to get a simple card made so I can kick off this month's prize challenge over on our challenge blog.  This month we're having a colour themed challenge based on fabric swatches for this season's fashion colours.

You can find more details of the challenge and the link to enter for your chance to win a £10 voucher here https://sevenhillscraftschallenge.blogspot.com/2025/01/january-colour-challenge.html

For my card I opted to play with the brand new release from Waffle Flower Crafts as I'm a sucker for any book themed stash!  I started with the Book Shelf Panel Die and Stencil combo as my background using the grey and teal's from the challenge colours.

I topped that off with the Open Book Die and Stencil - I cut the main stencil 3 times, coloured the edge of one with the stencil using the red from the swatches and used the text die to add writing to the book pages.   For the top two layers, I snipped off the edges with scissors so I just had the pages.  I added the text die to the middle layer and then used the Magical Birthday Stamp to go for a Potter-esque feel image for my top layer.  I coloured the images with pencils and then used a light watercolour wash for the sky on top (the pencil resists it so easier that way if you're not great at painting like me!)  I glued them just on the fold line and then curved the pages over so you can still see the pages below.

Hope that's sparked your creativity and you feel compelled to join in - we'd love to see the number of players in our challenge rise this year so we can keep them going.

Happy Crafting!

Tara
