Hi Hunny

Hi Hunny

I've been having fun with big bees today.  I think the new bee stamps from MFT are super cute and they work so well with the beehive die and hanging branch die so I made fun hello card featuring all of them!

I started with the beehive - die cut it from yellow card and then added shading and definition with pencils.  I wanted it to feel round and full of honey so shaded dark at the edges and added cream highlights in the centre.  To give it a more 3D feel I also cut a back - I drew around the shape on darker yellow card and cut it out so there was no "hole" in the back and then I used pinflair gel to glue the two layers together.  I like this gel for when I want "shape" in my elements - it allows me to add more depth in the centre and less at the edges so I have a nice round beehive.

Whilst that dried I set about creating the other elements.   For the base card itself I just blended two shades of blue oxide inks to cover the front.

I stamped the 5 different bees and coloured them with my pencils seeing as I had them out already.   I love their cute round bellies!   Once coloured I die cut with the coordinating die.

I die cut the branch and stuck it at the top then set about die cutting the leaves a couple of times from two shades of green.  Clustering the leaves around the branch.  I stuck the beehive in place and then added the bees and finished with a sentiment fromt he same set.

I like to have a stash of "hello" cards for when you need to send a card for something non-specific, they work quite well.

I'll be back on Sunday - catch you then.

Tara
