How many candles?

How many candles?

Terri will be back on Friday so I'm filling in today with a couple of cards stacked full of candles using on the of new kit dies from My Favorite Things.   Whilst the Celebrate with Cake die is a fabulous cake, today I'm just using the candle element to make a couple of rainbow bright birthday cards.

For my first card, I cut the candles from rainbow colours of card (a great way to use up those pesky scraps!) and then I cut a strip of grey card and die cut the die from it 3 times making sure I started and finished off the edge to give the impression of a continuous line of candles.   I then used the rainbow candles to inlay into the die cut panel.   For the flames, I used some gold glitter card backed with stick-it for speed of sticking.

To finish I added some rainbow striped paper and a sentiment from Itty Bitty Celebrations embossed in white on black card.

Whilst I had all the supplies out, and some spare rainbow candles already cut, I used what I had left to make a simple CAS card in the opposite orientation.  I just embossed another sentiment and then cut more of the paper to the same width to stack underneath then starting with the green candle in the centre just applied a rainbow of candles on top.   For the flames this time I used white glitter card and coloured it with two yellow alocohol markers.

I'm not sure which card I prefer now?  The one I originally planned or the one I made with the leftovers?   You decide.

See you on Sunday

Tara
