Just for You

Just for You

Morning! It's Deborah here with you today. I've been out in the garden quite a bit recently watching the flowers grow, watering the garden and watching the wildlife. When I saw the new butterfly stamps from MFT I had to have them. This is is my card:

I started by stamping the flower directly onto the card. I used Altenew's Best Buds stamp set. It has lots of outline image stamps of flowers, leaves, a stem and a variety of sentiments. You could easily colour these images, but I decided to keep the flower plain. I used My Favorite Things Brilliant Butterflies and stamped three butterflies for the front of the card. These butterflies are made up of several layers. At first I die cut the butterfly and then tried to stamp the layers, but it didn't work for me. I have a stamp positioner and used that and took some photos of my process:

The stamp set comes with a colour guide showing which layers go together and it's very pretty, so I used the colours that MFT did on their demo butterflies. I started by stamping the bottom wings onto white card. I have a clear grid overlay that I use, put this over the stamped image and lined up the top wings, did a test stamp onto the clear overlay to make sure they were in the right place and then stamped the top wings in a darker shade of ink on the card. I put the grid overlay back in position and lined up the lace wings stamp, checked the position and stamped. Finally, I stamped the body and then used the matching MFT Brilliant Butterflies dies to cut out the completed image. I repeated this for several more butterflies. I added some sparkle to the butterflies with glitter pens. I die cut some extra butterfly bodies, layered them together and adhered them to the front of the card.

On the inside, I cut a mat layer of black card and on the white panel I stamped the flower image that I'd used on the front in the bottom corner, along with one of the sentiments from the set. I finished by adding another butterfly sitting on the flower. I made another card with a flower and butterfly:

A simple monochromatic birthday card. I used the rectangle frame from Altnew's Geo Frames die set to cut the white panel. I used Altenew's Botanical Garden and Beautiful Inside stamp sets for this card. However, if you look closely you might just see a flower peeking out behind the rose. It was the flower I used on the previous card, but the line weight was too light for the butterfly and greeting, so I fixed it by stamping the rose on white card, colouring with Copic markers and fussy cutting it out and adding to the panel. Beautiful Inside has lots of lovely verses that can be used on the inside of your card - here's what I did:

I added another of the flowers from Botanical Garden, coloured it and layered the white panel on black card and adhered it to the card.  Before I go, this is what the card orginally looked like:

I like the flower, but the line weight was much too light and I don't think you really notice the petals too much on the finished card., well, at least I hope so!! :)

That's all from me today, thanks so much for stopping by and I'll see you again next week.
