Masking Magic with Altenew's Spotted Orchid

Masking Magic with Altenew's Spotted Orchid

Hey, Terri here. Today's card is all about creating a scene with layered stamps and using simple masking to help achieve dimension.

To create the Orchids I used Altenew's Spotted Orchid Stamp Set.  I started by stamping the orchid on the left of my card as I knew this was the one I wanted in the forground.

I then stamped the base layer of the Orchid onto some sticky note paper and fussy cut it. I placed the fussy cut mask over the stamped flower and then stamped the second flower, this gives the illusion of it being in the background.

I cut another mask to cover the second flower.  Using the branch stamp from the Seasons Tweetings Stamp Set I stamped a branch in brown ink. I then added the leaves with the mask still  in place.

Lastly I used the Block Sentiments Stamp Set to stamp a sentiment. I stamped in black and trimmed it down to leave a small white edge.  The stampe panel was matted onto a black piece of card and then onto an A2 note card.

I love how simple masking can help to create a stunning scene.
