Merry Tree-mas

Merry Tree-mas

If you've been following the blog over the years, you will know that there is one thing I can't resist when it comes to Christmas crafting and that's trees.   I have far too many already but I still keep adding to my collection every year.   So today I have 5 cards made with two different tree products from MFT Stamps and Reverse Confetti.

I started with the Christmas Tree Background Stencil from MFT which is a lovely chunky tree shape and I just wanted a simple card that would be easy to batch produce for the holidays.  I embossed the Christmas Greetings Background Stamp using embossing glaze in Peeled Paint onto some light green cardstock and then used Rustic Wilderness Distress to ink over the top in the inner tree stencil.  Finished with a red star and a sentiment  from Itty Bitty Holiday stamped in Delicata Black Shimmer onto more red card.

Next I wanted to play with the inner and outer stencil.   I used the same background stamp and glaze but onto kraft you get a completely different colour, almost a golden shimmer.   I inked three shades of oxides inside (fossilised amber, twisted citron and shabby shutters) and then popped the inner stencil over and inked the outer edge with Rustic Wilderness and Pine Needles.   Another red star on top and a matching red peace sentiment using the latest release from Reverse Confetti.

I was really enjoying the background stamp so I used it once more on white with the same glaze, again a totally different look, I do love how the glazes do that due to their translucent qualities, but this time I used the Reverse Confetti Tree Die instead of the stencil.   I inked the tree slices from light to dark using oxides (twisted citron, shabby shutters, mowed lawn, peeled paint, rustice wilderness and pine needles).   To tie my cards together I stuck with the red stars and for a pot to plant my tree I cut another slice from the tree in red and turned it upside down before adding a sentiment from Itty Bitty Holidays.

I thought I'd move away from the background stamp but make more with the tree die so I opted for a old piece of Christmas paper from my stash, duck egg blue with hints of red to match my stars.  I decided to pair it with the peace die, one layered one a siingle layer.  I added a splattered background to both, one with blue to tie in the background to the peace die, one with the new in store frost white all purpose ink which is just so shimmery and beautiful I will be finding lots of ways to use it in the future more creatively than splatters!

Hope that sparked some ideas so you can have some tree-mendous fun too!
