Rainbow of Rainbows

Rainbow of Rainbows

Sorry I'm late to the blog today, we've been making the most of the sunshine whilst it's here and my projects today took longer to put together than I thought but I've had lots of fun with my die cut machine this weekend!

I really love the new dies from Concord and 9th that give that "rope rainbow" look that is so on trend.   I like to dress up our fire place in the dinning room all year round with seasonal decorations, and now the Easter decs have come down I wanted something new to dress it with for summer and I thought rainbows were the perfect plan so I've got a couple of ides for you.

Project one - Rainbow of Rainbows banner

Here I literally cut 2 of the largest "wonky edge" rainbows in the set from every colour of Concord and 9th cardstock from their assorted pack (excluing the neutrals) and then split each of the tassles into 3 parts so I could sandwich them at the bottom of each individual coloured rainbow.   I glued them in place but left the rest of the rainbow sandwich unglued so that when I came to assemble my "rainbow of rainbows" I could just slot each new colour into the bow of the previous colour, glueing the first one together at that point to "hold" the new colour in place if that makes sense.   You're basically creating a very long  interlocking mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

I have some little hooks I keep on the fire place all year round to hang things so just used some clear monofilament (fishing line) on the ends of my rainbow and hang it up and it really does add some colour to the big brown blob of a fireplace!

Project 2 - Rainbow Mobile

I wanted to use the 3 sizes of the smooth dies too so thought an old fashioned mobile would be fun.  To make this I used 3 shades of red, orange/yellow, greens and blue to make 4 stacks of rainbows and sandwiched some monofilament down the middle of each colour so I could hang them from the mobile.   That I made really old school blue peter style from a couple of lolly sticks (you can buy packs for crafting if you don't want to use used ones - these were in my old craft stash from years ago)   I used a fine drill to drill a hole in the middle and on each end and then just set about threading them up and slightly different heights on each end.

I might have spent the best part of an evening cutting rainbows but I'm pleased with how some simple bits of card can jazz up the dinning room for summer!
