Retro Christmas

Retro Christmas

Good morning! It's Deborah here with you today - glad to be back! I've got some fun retro style Christmas cards to share. Here's the first:

There so much glitz and sparkle on this one! I used Hero Arts' Mod Pattern for the background as I think the star gives it quite a festive look. I stamped one of the messages from Hero Arts' Retro Christmas Messages in the same gold ink, and cut it out with the coordinating Retro Christmas Messages die.  There are six message stamps in this set, all in the style of retro neon signs - such fun images! I used a large oval die to cut out some red glitter paper and adhered it to the front of the card and then attached the greeting. I was going to leave it there, but I decided to really go with the retro theme and stamped one of the fun trees from Hero Arts' Stylized Christmas Trees in green ink and cut it out with the matching Stylized Christmas Tree die.

On the inside, I simply cut a mat layer from the red glitter paper and on the white panel used one of the Christmas greetings from Stylized Christmas trees, along with part of another tree with a gold star.

You might notice from the picture, that this card is a bit wonky!! Well, sometimes things slip when they run through a die machine. However, it's a handmade card and I think that's part of the charm - well, it's my excuse and I'm sticking with it :)

In my mind, I had this vision of a winter resort with mountains, snow, fir trees, decorated Christmas tree and neon signs.  I started by cutting the red glitter paper and a piece of white card slightly smaller and cutting a large oval in the centre - it turns out a bit wonky. I put the panel on the card base and drew round the inside of the oval so I could see where to stamp the scene. I used a very old, and discontinued, stamp set for the mountain scene, but you could easily create something with similar with Hero Arts Color Layering Mountains by the Lake. On white card I stamped the 'bauble' tree from Sylized Christmas Trees, coloured it with Copic markers, restamped with Versafine ink and heat embossed with clear powder, I cut it out with the matching die. I picked two more images from Retro Christmas Messages, stamped them with Versafine ink and heat embossed - I used an iridescent powder on the 'Happy Holidays' image. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I adhered the tree to the card and then adhered the oval frame over the top and finished the front with the two message images.

The inside is pretty similar to the first card, with a red glitter mat layer and on the white panel another Christmas tree and a greeting.

Well, that's all from me today. I hope you like my retro style Christmas cards. It's never to early to make a start of your stash - only six months to go!! Bye for now, see you next week.
