Welcome to the Neighbourhood

Welcome to the Neighbourhood

One of our friends completes on thier first house today so I wanted a special card to send them and as we finally managed to get enough in stock that I could have a set before you bought them all, I wanted to play with the Home for the Holidays Dies from Concord and 9th.   I paired them with the Card Stacks Base Die to get a nice 3D card which is easy to display and the Downtown Stacks for some height at the back.   The stepped elements in the Card Stack die make it super easy to put the layers together - all the measurements are done for you!

The 3 dies together have all the elements you could ever need to make a city scape - I had so much fun cutting all the tiny little pieces and layering them up.   I started with a plain white base but added a blue layer to the inside to make my sky.  Then I worked my layers front to back, starting with the "new home" and to make it special I die cut it all from gold mirri and glitter card.  The house and walls are from Home from the Holidays, the car, trees and garden umbrella are from the Downtown Stacks.  I added 2 layers of white until the front part of the house to give it some depth.   The sentiment actually comes from an older set but we do still have it in stock, and it has elements that could be paired with the dies to give even more looks - it's called City Stacks.

For the second layer I added two more houses and some different trees from the Home from the Holidays set using scraps of card from my stash.

For the final layer I added sky scrapers from the Downtown set and used the fire escapes in two different ways - there are so many little bits to play with on these sets to change up the looks, I could have sat and played all evening!   I did a shot down into it so you can see the bus that's hidden unless you peek inside, but I like that you can see more from different angles.   The buildings let me put another small dent in my scraps box too.

Hope you like the card and have a go - these really are super fun dies to play with and have wide usage possibilities.

I'll be back on Sunday - catch you then.

Tara
