Zoomer of the Year

Zoomer of the Year

It was our first indoor book group since February 2020 last night - we've managed a couple in the garden last summer and last month, but mostly, the 5 of us have continued our monthly get togethers via zoom over lockdown, and one member who uses it all the time did all the "admin" for it, so I made a card for her from the rest of us to say thank you.

I used the fun Pop Up Desk die from Lawn Fawn paired with their Virtual Friends stamp and Tiny Friends stamp and the Virtually the Best stamp from MFT for the sentiment and books.

For the sentiment - nothing quite said what I wanted it to, so I set about doing one of my favourite things with my sentiment stamps - looking at how I can force them to say what I want to say instead!   I had a couple of options that were close - but the me in the "You Keep Me Plugged In" needed to be "US" so I could have cut out the me (in blue) and stamped the U and S from the other sentiments (in green) in its place.   However, I decided to plump for turning "zoom teacher of the year" into "zoomer of the year" but just cutting out the "teach" and the "goes to YOU" (in red).  I know some people get scared to cut up their stamps - but TRUST ME - it's easy, and they EASILY goe back together to use as intended - you just get more options if you do a little stamp surgery!!!

For the front of the card, I started with some patterned paper to make wallpaper and carpet and then used the pop-up die cut from woodgrain textured card but only cutting the "front" and using it flat.  Adding on the drawers and some silver draw knobs.  You'll notice I forgot to cut the foldover tabs from the bottom, so the front desk is taller than the inside one, but I won't tell if you don't!

I used the "top" of the laptop to create the screen for the zoom host and added her using the tiny friends stamp over the loading bar image from the virtual friends stamp and added some books from the MFT stamp set.

For the inside, I replicated the wallpaper and then made a semi circle for the carpet on the "base" of the card.   I cut the desk again from the same woodgrain card and remembered the bottom folds this time!   It's really easy to get the pop-up in place - just secure it to the "back" of the card then leave the tape exposed on the bottom of the legs and then when you close the card they stick to the right place on the base.

I used the full laptop die this time and kept the keys black by taping the back before taking it out of the die.  I added the four of us to the screen using the tiny friends stamp again and colouring our hair to match us (ish) - it's a great way of personalising your cards - the recipient knew instantly it was the 5 of us on the screens and she loved it!

Sometimes interactive cards like this can seem complicated and scary, but the Lawn Fawn products are so well designed that they do all the hard work for you - and you'll find video tutorials on their YouTube channel (or via their website) if you get stuck so I do hope you'll give one a go!

See you on Sunday....
