Birthday Wishes with The Greetery Hey Honeycomb Party Hat

Birthday Wishes with The Greetery Hey Honeycomb Party Hat

Hi everyone, it's Natalia here today with a fun birthday card using party supplies from The Greetery and a little inspiration from my rather vintage paper stash.

Today's card all began with a little sort out of some of my old scrapbooking collection kits and 6x6 paper pads. I thought it would be fun to create something that echoed the colours used in an old My Mind's Eye collection called Hooray, which included rose gold foiled papers and a mix of fun patterns.

I instantly knew the Hey Honeycomb Party Hat dies and coordinating stencils would be the perfect way to use what I still had left from this collection.

The Party Hat stencils make it possible to alternate the colour of the stripes on the hat, so I picked out coordinating colours from the paper collection to blend over the cream piece of paper covered in rose gold dots. It's easy to line up the stencil over the die cut by using the dotted lines from the die as a guide.

There's also a stencil in the set to add shading to the inside of the hat. So I just added some subtle inking here in Lawn Fawn Kiddie Pool ink, but if I made this card again, I'd go with a darker ink tone to make it really stand out.

I jazzed up the party hat with a hand-cut fringe edge to coordinate with the rosettes cut from more patterned paper and matching card using the Party Hat dies.

I created a tone-on-tone background for the card with the fab Ticker Tape Background stamp from The Greetery.

For more drama, I cut the Star Struck die from glitter card, so that it would peep out of the hat and I could use the stars cut with it as confetti. I also added a thin strip of card over the fringe edge of the hat and at the top and bottom of the card to bring everything together once assembled.

Finally, I went with one of the ever-versatile birthday sentiments from Waffle Flower's Birthday Wishes stamp and die set. I have used this set so much and tend to keep a few sentiments ready to quickly add to a card.

And there we have it, a fun and colourful little number for future birthday celebrations.

Until next time, happy crafting!
