I'm continuing my movie themed projects today, but not Harry Potter - we've gone under the sea with Dory and her turtle mates for a "life happens" kind of card.
This whole scene was inspired by the scenes in Finding Nemo and Finding Dory where they use the under sea current to cross the seas with the turtles - the shape of the "swooshy bit" in the new Waffle Flower Under The Sea Stencil really reminded me of that bit in the movies.
To create the backgound I cut as mask so I could do the seafloor in a paler colour rather than in silhouette as the stencil suggests - it's pretty easy to do, I just inked it onto scrap paper, cut it out and used some two-way glue to make it sticky but removable - I'll keep it in the packet for future use (should get 4-6 goes before it fails)
Then I created the background with the stencil and then brushed on some irridescent glitter paste over the top of the whole "swooshy wave" - you can paint with these pastes as well as push them through a stencil.
Then it was just a case of adding the characters - the turtle is the smaller one in the set which I cut then flipped over so he was facing the same way as Dory.
The sentiment was spelt out with letters from the alphabet die in Altenew's EZ Arrangements Antique Leaves Layering Die which is perfect for sentiments on cards as the letters are only around 1cm x 1cm each!
What movie will inspire me next? I have a couple of ideas so stay tuned!
