Season's Greetings | The Greetery Canned

Season's Greetings | The Greetery Canned

Hi everyone! It's Natalia here today, back with a rather different card for the festive season.

By now, you're probably aware of my love for the Canned die set from The Greetery.

It's not just for fish!

I've used it to hold flowers, mini market houses, festive scenes, and now winter botanicals!

As many seasoned cardmakers will appreciate, some experiments go well, and others do not...

I really wanted to give my winter botanicals that realistic frosty look by adding Ranger Snowfall Grit Paste to the tips of the leaves and berries.

Well, sadly on my first attempt at dabbing this medium over die cuts that had been blended with regular dye ink and then zapped with my heat gun, the medium actually picked up the hue of the ink and didn't dry clear.

So, not to be deterred, this time I simply cut the Bigger Holiday Botanicals Holly 1 dies and Big Branches Pine dies from coloured cardstock and didn't add any ink blending.

I used a cotton bud to dab on the grit paste and left everything to dry while I assembled the Canned dies from a mix of C9 Tidepool, Stardust, and Sea Glass card.

I also went over the Stardust can rim with Wild Honey Distress ink to make it stand out more.

The Something Fishy Sentiments set added some nice tone-on-tone details down the can edge and nested inside the Ciao Bella Borders stamped details on the can lid.

Once my holly and pine branches were dry, I splattered them with snowy white paint.

I also added in a BotaniCuts Rowan branch to the display - this time adding dry Clear Rock Candy glitter over the leaves and snow of the berries.

To add that festive touch to the can, I cut a big bright red Regency Bow No. 1 to adorn the top of the can.

All that remained was to add one of the lovely new Laid Back Holiday sentiments, and card complete!

Until next time, happy crafting!
