Easter Bookmarks

Easter Bookmarks

It's become a bit of a tradition, that along with something chocolatey, I make our book group members and bookmark at Easter and this year I was spoilt for choice for what to make so did two different ones!

The base for both bookmarks is the same - I used Waffle Flower's Book Shelf Panel Die and Co-ordinating Coloring Stencil - I did one whole panel in shades of blue and one in yellow. From each I can then cut two book marks. The colouring stencils come in 3 layers so its really quick and easy to colour them. They work great for a full back panel but are easy to cut so you can use them for stuff like this or to just add a stripe of books on a card ;-) I always like to get more from the stash I buy! As the die cuts lines around each book, I added a strip of plain card behind to give the bookmarks some strenght - just using my trimmer and glued the coloured panels on. I used scissors to round the corners to match the panel and trim out the little triangles down the side but you could skip that step for speed.

For the blue ones I made bunnies using the new Build-A-Bunny Dies from Lawn Fawn (they totally give me Miffy vibes!) Because these are going to hang off the top of my bookmark I die cut the elements and then drew around the head so I could get a solid panel without the eye and ear holes (pretty easy shape to cut) and sandwiched the body in between the two layers. I used the Build-A-Bunny Accessories Dies to dress him in super cute dungarees and added a big juicy carrot to his pocket. (You can go girl bunny with a dress and bow too with this set so I might mix and match when I make the rest)

Chickens are another great symbol of Easter, so I HAD to make a chicken version with the new Chicken Chatter die from Concord and 9th. This die gives you a solid back layer, a layer for the beak and comb, legs, and another layer for the head and body so its super easy to create chickens in fun colour combos. I added a banner for that chicken run vibe giving me Ginger vibes of oranizing a break out!

Once I'd made my characters I just added them to the top of bookmarks with a little glue at the bottom of their bodies allow the rest to stick up as the bit that will be out of the book.

Hope that's given you a new idea for inexpensive gifts for book lovers.

Happy Crafting!
