A Car For All Weddings

A Car For All Weddings

I really loved the wedding themed set "Destination Love" from the latest Newton's Nook release - the couple is in the car is a great focal image and I thought with a little twist it could be a brilliant Golden Wedding Anniversary card too (although depending on the colour you chose you could go Silver, Ruby or Plantinum like the Jubilee!)

So this was a really simple make - I stamped and embossed the image in gold and repeat stamped and embossed the cans 3 times - I wanted them to add movement to my card at the end.   I then broke out my Altenew watercolour paints - the 24 Pan Set and the 14 Pan Metallic Set and set about colouring the car, the cans and the base card (I used the same metallic blue in the space between the heads so it looks like its transparent).    For the base card I knew I wanted a heart so I lightly drew around the infinity die I was using to work out where to paint.  Once dry I fussy cut the car and the cans, trimming off the stamped string as I wanted to replace it for the movement.

To assemble the card I cut a heart using the nesting heart infinity dies from Hero Arts and fixed that over the base card to frame the blue paint.   I then used a fine brush to add some dots of the same gold I used to colour the car (but mixed thicker) around the heart to frame it.   I used some thin twine secured behind the car and behind the cans so the cans would move like they would behind a wedding car - in hindsight I would have used some embroidery thread instead as the twine is a bit stiff so they don't move as much as I had planned - but there you go, I made the mistake so you don't have to!

I popped the car up on some foam tape and gold embossed the sentiment to finish.   If you wanted a Ruby wedding then just make the car ruby and stamp the sentiment accordingly, same for a Silver wedding card.   If its for an actual wedding then paint the car the theme colour if there is one - an easy way to make it more personal for the recipient.

NEWS FROM THE STORE

Not a lot to report this week - hopefully you're all getting the news via our more regular newsletters now - if you're not signed up - head to the front page of our store and add your email to the box you'll find at the bottom.

We are still working on adding our latest Altenew delivery but as always, there is so much of it, it takes us a long time to plod though it all.

Purple Onion's latest release left the USA on Friday so hopefully it will clear customs before we close for the Jubilee weekend.

For those of you outside the UK, or those of you here who aren't aware - the late May bank holiday this year has been moved from Monday to Thursday and an extra day has been granted to give us all a 4 day weekend to celebrate (or not as the case may be!) the Queen's 70th Jubilee.   So after 4pm on Wednesday when the post is collected, there will be no more orders shipping until Monday 6th June.

Happy Crafting
