A New Month - A New Challenge!

We closed out our first challenge on the new challenge blog last night and we has 14 fabulous Olympic inspired entries - head here to see them all and find out who the winner is https://sevenhillscraftschallenge.blogspot.com/2024/09/inspired-by-olympics-challenge-winner.html

We've decided there was enough interest for us to offer a prize for participation so if you play along this month, you have the chance to win a £10 store voucher just for playing.  The challenge this month is "Shades of Autumn" so a colour challenge based on 9 shades of autumn I've selected for you to play with - you must use 3 colours from the cube and no other colours (except black and white) to join in.

My cards today are my inspiration makes to kick off the challenge - I tried to use all the colours and opted to do an autumnal themed card (you don't have to do autumnal makes - just the colours) as I really wanted to play with my Autumn Inlay Die from Concord and 9th.  I used the cardstock pack from Altenew to do the die cutting (there are 30 more shades coming this week so watch this space for a new bumber pack!.  I used Sapphire for the base, then cut the leaves and acorns from Olive, Paperbag, Warm Sunshine and Misty Moor and to keep waste down used inks to shade the stems on the leaves.

Once I'd inlaid all the pieces, I used the double die cut technique to die cut a word from the die cut panel - I used Altenew's Caps Bold Die to cut HELLO from the panel - this gave me my two-for-one set.  You could stack the die cut letters up on 3 layers of card if you just wanted to make one - the letters still stand out with the thickness behind, but I wanted two cards.  I die cut two layers of letters from cream (the same as my base card) and stacked those into the inlayed base for the first card.

For the second card I drew a border with a gel pen around my base card, die cut two extra leaves from the inlay die and adhered to each corner before finishing the card with the patterned Hello layer over top.

I'm not sure which I prefer - do you?
