Amongst the Snowdrops

Amongst the Snowdrops

It's that time of year again when the clusters of little white snowdrop buds hang defiantly on clumps of lush greenery despite the cold and dreary weather, reminding us that spring is on the way. They also inspire me to search out my Altenew Craft-a-flower Snowdrop dies for a bit of seasonal card making.....

For this card we are down amongst the snowdrops, I like this angle especially on the slimline landscape card base. You're probably thinking "that's a lot of die-cutting!" and you'd be right but if you set about it methodically its well worth doing. First of all I used a piece of white card to cut all the leaves and stems... I've only cut the tops as I knew I wouldn't need full length for this design. I then used Distress Oxides in Mowed Lawn and Rustic Wilderness to colour them. Next I inked up areas of the left over card waste to cut out all the little green pieces, there is plenty of space left between the stems and leaves to use for these small dies.

Next is the white flowers, I ran a large piece of card through my bigshot quite a few times with all the flower and bud dies. Once I had a big collection I started to make up flowers and buds.... some of the flowers I cut apart so I could reassemble them to make buds at different stages of opening. Then was the fun part... arranging them, starting with the leaves. After attaching all the pieces to the card base I very lighty blended pale blue ink to the very top to mimic sky and added a sentiment which nestles very nicely in the space... luckily :)

I now have quite a few ready cut petals and flowers which I store in a pot ready to use for any other projects.... at least with snowdrops you know they are always going to be the right colour you'll need :)

Thanks for stopping by, catch you next week :)
