Birthday Cheering

Birthday Cheering

I had a significant birthday to make a card for last week so I decided to bring in the Cheerleaders stamp set from Waffleflower to help me out....

Oh my goodness... how much fun is this set!? In true cheerleader style I wanted them to spell out the birthday age so this is the formation I decided on. I couldn't settle for one colour for their outfits so rainbow it was with silver sparkly pom poms. I used the co-ordinating dies to cut the girls out and then started on the background..

I masked a strip across the bottom of a piece of 5"x7" card and then blended Broken China Distress Oxide down from the top, fading it out. I then used the Ray of Light stencil with Peacock Feathers ink to add the stripes which fade out towards the top. Unfortunately this stencil is currently out of stock but a similar alternative is available here from Sugar Pea Designs. For the speech bubbles I have used Mama Elephants Lets Chat and Lawn Fawns Speech Bubble background and used my computer to add the text.... I just didn't have an Alphabet stamp set small enough for the job!

Before adding all the images I ran the card panel through my printer to add the text along the bottom and trimmed the finished piece to be slightly smaller than 5x7" . Now, with the card being a landscape orientation, I had to cut two pieces of card to make it up and join them down the spine so I took the opportunity to stamp the back piece of card with the group of girls and then add the rest of the wording across them using the printer before I assembled the card...

It's just lucky that they're a group of five..... they work so well for the inside of my card :) I stamped them in grey and left them uncoloured so the wording could stand out.

This is such a useful set... perfect for adding some encouragement or birthday cheer to any card or simply to make the recipient smile :)

Thanks for stopping by, catch you next week :)
