Butterfly Dies

Butterfly Dies

Hello & Happy Thursday.

I hope you’re all well and finding lots of creative crafty time. I’ve been making sure to fit some in between lots of work and even escaped into my studio last weekend to make these fun butterfly cards.

I chose Concord & 9th Bold Butterflies as I wanted to try a die cutting technique on a gatefold card. It’s rare I get the mojo to step outside of the standard card style, but combine it with butterflies and or snowflakes and I’m back in the comfort zone!

I created a gatefold card from white card stock and then used one of the Bold Butterflies Dies to die cut each half of the fold.

Once I had die cut I was able to place the card into my stamp positioned, position the coordinating butterfly stamp and stamp it in place. I decided to add a sentiment on a panel which would act as a flap to keep the card closed.

A simple design, but with the fold and die cut technique it adds that special touch and interest.

As I had the supplies out I decided to make a second card. This time using the negative die cut space and left over strips of coloured card.

This style of card is a good way of using those parts we often forget to use and discard. Again super simple but beautifully effective.

That’s all I have to share this week, it was nice to take a break from the festive making!
