Hot Cocoa Anyone?

Hot Cocoa Anyone?

Hi everyone, it's Ruby here today.

I hope you've had a good week. Now that the clocks have changed in the UK, the nights are darker.  I'm starting to feel more festive, so I thought I'd share a simple Christmas card with you.

Last week, I used the Little Line Agenda to get out my Hot Cocoa Stamp and Hot Cocoa Die Set and make a few Christmas cards. What's good about this set is you can use it for other occasions, not just Christmas.

Here's today's card:

This time of year is all about simple for me as I make a lot of Christmas cards, so I like to come up with designs that I can do on repeat.

I used the Mama Elephant Combo Circle Dies. These dies are so useful as you cut the scalloped die in two colours and then piece them together to get a gorgeous scalloped edge, so you can use colours to coordinate with your stamps. I've always loved the scallop dies, but this set takes them to the next level.

If you don't want cute, switch the stamps to something like poinsettias. This card would look great using this Waffle Flower Poinsettia set or the holly/Poinsettia from this Reverse Confetti Poinsettia Stamp set.

Here's the step-by-step process:

  1. Stamp the reindeer from the Mama Elephant Hot Cocoa Stamp Set and colour. I used Altenew's Artist Markers for mine.

  2. Die cut a white circle using the Combo Circle dies.

  3. Die cut the scalloped edge using red and green cardstock. Add one layer to the other to create the alternating red and green edge. Layer the white circle onto the scalloped edge.

  4. Die cut the reindeer using the matching Hot Cocoa Die Set, with two extra blanks, layering them up to create a chipboard effect.

  5. Cut two strips of silver glitter cardstock to resemble a gift-wrapped present and attach them to the card base.

  6. Run The Greetery's Twinkle Background Die through your die-cutting machine, and save one of the little stars to add to the cup.  Add sequins to finish. (Mine were a gift, so I'm not sure where they are from, sorry).

Top Tip: The Greetery's Twinkle Background Die is brilliant for adding interest to your card base.

Remember to check out Flashback Friday's special offers for this week. This week, it's Lawn Fawn - a company never to be missed. They've also just had a new mini-release, so remember to check that out too.

That's it from me. Have a great week!
