Christmas in May

Christmas in May

Morning! Deborah here with you today. Normally by this time of the year I have at least 30 Christmas cards in my stash – but for obvious reasons, I’m a bit behind this year. So, I spent the last few days making Christmas cards. I’ve used a mixture of old and new Concord & 9th stamp and die sets. The inspiration comes from Jennifer McGuire.

The first card uses the Tiny Trees turnabout stamp along with Big on Christmas for the sentiment and Christmas Cottage for the inside of the card.

The next two cards are non-traditional in pinks, silver and grey. I used Tiny Trees turnabout, trimmed wonky panel with a stitched edge rectangle and added the pieces to the front of the card. I finished by adding simple greetings. Inside both cards I added a simple greeting with tree decoration.

The next two cards use the inlaid-die technique. I stamped the Tiny Trees in shades of green and used the Trim the Tree die to cut out the tree. I inlaid the stamped tree in a white piece decorated with bright banners, and the white tree into the stamped space. I added a large greeting to the front of each tree. Inside the cards, I stamped a simple greeting and added a tree decoration.

I then created some background plaid patterns with Plaid Background (not in stock) but there are plenty of stamps and stencils on the blog that you could use to create the plaids.

I have a set of three cards made with a silver and turquoise plaid. I trimmed a piece from the bottom of the panel for one card, and used stitched edge dies to cut diagonal panels for two other cards. On all the cards I used Tiny Tree die cuts. I kept all these cards very simple. Inside, as the others is a very simple greeting and tree design to match the front of the cards.

Next is a much more traditional red and gold plaid card. I added a die cut Christmas Tree and sentiment made from Mix & Match Holiday Sentiments.

Finally, I used a load of the Mix & Match Holiday Sentiments to make a ‘Christmas’ tree on a simple plaid background. I also added some flat sequins for sparkle. Inside the card I created a bold greeting with Big on Christmas.

That's all for today - see you soon.

Deborah, x
