Double Stencilling

Double Stencilling

Hello & Happy Thursday!

I hope you’re all well and safe. I’m sat here typing and wondering if and when summer is actually going to arrive before the boys head back to school. It’s another dull day, but hopefully my trio of cards will add some cheer and brightness.

Today I am sharing a technique that I saw recently, double stencilling. It’s a simple technique, but I think it brings more to getting the most out of your stencils.

First up I used MFT Heart Extraordinaire Stencil and Altenew Rose Quartz ink. Then without removing the heart stencil I placed the Newton’s Nook Pawprints Stencil over the top and ink through with Altenew Puffy Heart.

I debated adding an image to this card, but decided it didn’t need one and just added a sentiment. The sentiment and heart are from Newton’s Nook Smitten Kitten.

For my second card I used the MFT Square Extraordinaire Stencil and Altenew Dew Drop ink. Then without removing the square stencil I placed the SugarPea Torn Stripes stencil over the top and inked through Altenew Aqualicious ink.

This kind of reminded me of waves and so I decided to add the boat, anchor and sentiment from Lawn Fawn Smooth Sailing.

Lastly, I wanted to used a circle stencil which I don’t actually have! But, it is super easy to create your own stencils using a die and some scrap thin card. Which I did for this card.

I used the same process and this time used Altenew Buttercream and then Warm Sunshine ink through the MFT Punched Pattern stencil. I decided to embellish this with a larger sentiment from Concord & 9th Buds & Blossoms Stamp Set.

That’s all I have to share this week, I hope I have inspired you with getting more from your stencils.
