Exclamations!!

Exclamations!!

Morning!! Deborah here with you today. I’ve made a birthday card for my teenage nephew – he’ll be 15 next week. Where has the time gone??

You all know that I love the turnabout stamps from Concord & 9th, and when I saw the Exclamation stamp set, I knew it would be perfect for masculine cards. I used fluorescent inks to stamp the background, trimmed the panel to 4” x 5¼”, edged it with a black marker pen and adhered it to the front of a US A2 note card. I used the matching Exclamation dies to cut out the birthday greeting. The large greeting die cuts a shadow layer, which I did in black, and the words, which I cut in white card. There is also a separate ‘birthday’ word in the die set which I cut from white card and coloured with markers to match the background and glued them over the word ‘birthday’ on the white words. I adhered the finished greeting to the card and added a touch of sparkle to the coloured letters with a clear aqua shimmer brush.

I cut a piece of white card for the inside. I created the greeting by mixing words from the Good Vibes Turnabout and Snail Mail stamp sets. I finished by adding the outline exclamation points, which I coloured with Copic markers. I like this bold, graphic look and the Halloween theme colours are just right for a teenage boy.

While I had the Exclamations Turnabout stamp in my positioner, I did two more backgrounds. I used turquoise and mustard inks on one background. I trimmed to fit on the front of a turquoise A2 note card. I stamped a bold message in black ink on the front.

I used four colours on my next panel, this time more pastel colours. I used a die to cut out a simple greeting which I layered onto a black shadow layer. I added the greeting to the corner of a white A2 note card.

I love the versatility of turnabout stamps. That’s all for now. See you next week.

Deborah, x
