Folk Art Reindeer

Folk Art Reindeer

So I said I'd be back with more folk art cards today and true to my word I have 4 cards to share today - all featuring the Folk Art Reindeer die from Waffle Flower's latest release.  If you've seen my Christmas makes before you will know by now I love trees and reindeers for Christmas and also a design I can make multiples of with a little twist to speed up batch making (as I invariably start making them the day before the last posting deadline!)   So this ticks two of my boxes - we have deer on all of them, and similar designs but not all so samey that I get bored making them.

First off I wanted to go to my favourite "new" Christmas colour combo - it became trendy 2 or 3 years ago, but I still love it.  Teals and pinks.  I die cut the two layers of the deer from teal and ice blue textured card - its very easy to layer him up - just the two layers and you're done - or you can add more details with the extra bits included in the die.  I just added a shiny black eye and nose with liquid enamel drops.  To frame him on my really CAS card I used the Beaded Wreath Die which is also in this new release - I really love the bobbly circle and think it works fine as a standalone frame without using the decorations to turn it into a wreath.   I went for silver as I think that pairs so well with the pink and teal.  I used the waste shape as a stencil to colour the inside shape before I glued my silver circle in place (I used saltwater taffy and abandoned coral inks).  I added a simple strip of silver card and a sentiment stamped over ink blended card with the same oxides.  An easy one to replicate - you could do all the die cutting in different colours then just layer them up using different colour combos.

For card 2, I wanted to go more traditional so went with the classic green and red combo.  I didn't like the green antlers to just coloured them black with a marker.  I went classic kraft for the wreath and used the waste from the silver for the inside and added a couple of leaves this time to give a slightly different look.

For the 3rd one, I stuck with traditional Christmas themes and colours again - I used a pale grey for the base layer of the reindeer and craft for the top and this time I used the pieces that came out of the other die cuts I'd done to infill the tear drop shapes.  I tried to pop him directly onto some green plaid but he was a little lost so I added a solid green behind him.   I used the ovals from the Folk Art Bird Die to cut those and finished with a colour matched sentiment to bring it all together.

For the final one I just want MORE REIDEER!  So I did a landscape card and used the grey and kraft I had out to cut 3 base layers and then picked some different tops - a plain orange (the spiced pumpkin left from the bird card on Friday), some glitter card in pink and then some textured metallic - I like the texture so might try some of my embossing folders before I cut more of them.   This one was all about playing with my scraps in my scrap box.

NEWS FROM THE STORE

We're still working on adding the lastest delivery from Altenew - sorry we fell behind again - last week was a bit nuts.  We're actually going to work on it this afternoon so hopefully will have it done today or tomorrow morning.

The new release from Concord and 9th along with restocks including inks and card stock was due to ship on Friday but DHL didn't collect - so we're chasing it and hope it ships tomorrow so we'll have it Wednesday/Thursday depending on how quickly it clears customs.

Mama Elephant have a cute new release out on the 15th - that is in transit and estimated delivery is by the 14th so fingers crossed we get it in time to process it and get it online for release day.

That's all for this week

Catch you next week.

Tara
