Getting Eggy

Getting Eggy

I wanted to play with the new release from Reverse Confetti today and whilst Easter is still a few weeks off, I had a couple of ideas for using some of the egg themed sets for all year round cards.  Eggs aren't just for Easter!

The Big Egg Die is fab - really easy to use and has lots of uses.   I've used it both my cards today.

For the first card, I used it as embossed detail on my base card - this added interest whilst keeping the colour to the edge of my card and allowed my egg box forcal element to stand out.  I just ran my base card through my embossing machine using an embossing mat so it didn't cut only embossed the lines of the egg.   I masked it out and then ink blended with shades of Frozen Delights inks from Altenew around the outside.   I used the same inks and a stencil to create a pattern to die cut the smaller eggs from the Egg Carton die so they look a little like painted eggs.   I cut the final egg from gold so that one egg stood out os the "egg-stra" one to match the sentiment and added a face using die cuts from Lawn Fawn's Plant a Succulent die (although you'll find similar faces in lots of Lawn Fawn's dies so check your stash!)   The sentiment comes from the new Spring Sentiments set from Reverse Confetti and I used some of the patterned paper I made backed with gold to bring it all together.    This could be used as a thank you card, or even just a card to big up a friend.

For the second card I wanted to use the Big Egg die as a shaped card - it's a good size (12cm high by 8.5cm wide at it's widest) to make a card in it's own right.  I die cut it twice - once from teal (no surprise there eh!) and then from some dotty patterned paper from my old stash.  Then just using the outer egg shape on its own, I die cut the shape with the top of the die hanging over the top of a folded piece of white card.  I cut another white egg to place over the top so the front was a full egg.   This then gets covered with the patterned paper (I have another set the opposite way around so can make another card too)   The sentiment is another from Spring Sentiments.   Again I was thinking of a thank you card here - so thought it would be fun to include a gift card using the same die on the inside.

I cut the same patterned paper, glued them on the inside but the strips 2nd and 3rd from bottom were only glued on the very edges - this gives you space to slot a gift card inside so a nice surprise when the recipient opens it!.

Hope that's made you look at eggs in a whole new non-Eastery way!

Happy Crafting!

Tara
