Last Minute Christmas Cards
Hi there, it's Ruby. I hope you've had a great week.
It's Christmas countdown time now, and things start getting really busy with all the extra things going on, so I like to pull together a few quick and simple last-minute Christmas cards. They're great if someone sends you a card and you haven't remembered them. Is it just me and my menopausal brain fog that does that?!
Card One - Embellished Star
I asked for Altenew's Embellished Star Die for my birthday from my bestie, as it's a beauty to use as a focal point or a background behind some flowers. I like it in white with a lovely stamped and coloured bouquet over the top of it. It adds a bit of pizazz!
As you can see, it's super simple to make:
-
Die-cut the star in gold glitter cardstock.
-
Die-cut a rectangular panel in red cardstock and attach it to the larger white card base. I used Concord & 9th's Poppy Cardstock.
-
Add the star to the card panel. (I use a spray adhesive as it's easier than liquid glue).
-
Stamp, die cut and attach the sentiment (I used the sentiment from Merry Sprigs stamp set by The Greetery and a banner die for one end.
-
Add sequins to finish.
Tip: If you keep the wording non-Christmas related on the front, you can use them as thank-you cards after Christmas if you end up not using them beforehand.
Card Two - Noel
Another super simple card. I rarely, if ever, do white-on-white cards. They aren't my thing, as I like loads of colour, but I wanted to give this a go, and I'm pleased with how it turned out.
-
Die cut the letters to spell Noel in white cardstock using Altenew's Bold Alphabet Die Set. I use this set often as it creates a quick card with quite big letters. Add a bit of sparkle using a Wink of Stellar clear glitter pen.
-
Die cut additional blanks of each letter and stack up to create 'chipboard' letters.
-
Die cut two layered snowflakes in glitter cardstock and attach them to the letter 'O'. The one I used is out of stock, but this Snowflake Trio set from Reverse Confetti would be a great fit.
-
Add a gem to the middle of the snowflake to finish.
I hope this post has inspired you to play with a few design ideas that are quick and simple. They are great if you need a last-minute card.
Have a great week!
