Mother's Day Cards

Mother's Day Cards

Morning! It’s Deborah here with you today. I typed this post last Thursday morning, just before my first round of chemo – getting ready just in case I have a rough weekend!! Today I’ve got a couple of Mother’s Day cards to share with you. Here’s the card I made for my mum:

I used products from several different companies for this card. I created the background with the new Clover Background two-step stencil from Lawn Fawn. I know it’s called clover, but I see lots of little hearts all making triangles! The white card measures 3¾” x 5” and I placed the first stencil (the one with the whole clovers) over the card and lightly blended a rainbow of colour diagonally across the card. Using the second stencil (the one with half of each leaf), I blended the same colours with a heavier hand. This technique gives softly blended rainbow background. Love this stencil!! I layered the finished panel onto a piece of black card measuring 3⅞” x 5⅛” and added it to the front of an A2 white notecard.

I used my stamp positioner to stamp the Mother’s Day greeting from Lawn Fawn’s Magic Spring Message on white card. I removed the image from the positioner and coloured it with Copic markers, replaced it in the positioner and stamped the image again with Versafine Onyx Black ink and embossed with clear powder. I used the matching Magic Spring Message circle die to cut out the image. I wanted to add some flowers, so using the same technique I stamped the single floral images from Reverse Confetti’s Botanical stamp set and used the matching Botanical dies to cut them out. I positioned the greeting towards the bottom right, added the flowers behind and then adhered the greeting. I finished the front by adding some clear crystal gems from my stash.

Inside the card, I cut a mat layer of black card. On the white panel I stamped a fun ‘I ♥ U’ from Altenew’s Note for You and added a sub-greeting from Concord & 9th’s Big on You stamp set. I finished the inside by adding the vase image from Botanical and colouring it with Copic markers. Next is the card I made for my wonderful mother-in-law:

I used Altenew’s Dotted Tile cover plate for the front of this card and then cut the panel to the same size as above. I blended yellow ink around the centre of the design and added soft teal around the edge, and then adhered the panel to a black mat layer and added to the front of an A2 note card. I spritzed the panel with a clear shimmer spray – it’s so pretty in real-life. Just wish you could see it in the photo! I used the same ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ greeting for the sentiment. I used the same process as the first card, this time I used only yellow and teal Copics. Altenew's Dotted Tile cover plate is OOS since I made this card, but you could use C&9's Stitched Vines Card Front die for a similar look.

I kept the inside quite simple. On the white panel I stamped a greeting from The Greetery’s Sentiment Suite – Birthday which works perfectly for the card. I finished with a few flowers from Magic Spring Message.

Edited - so it turns out that I didn't have chemo last week. I have rubbish veins and couldn't get a drip started, so I've had a PICC line put in this week and will be starting my first round of chemo tomorrow!!

That’s all for today. See you again next week.
