Pinwheel Birthdays

Pinwheel Birthdays

Hello! We’re in the middle of Storm Barra as I write this. Loads of rain and strong winds, but I don’t think as bad as the last one. It’s the perfect excuse to stay inside, not that I need much of an excuse to play!! I’ve a couple of cards to share with you today both featuring The Greetery Pinwheel Party suite. Here’s the first card:

It's a mini slimline card – just love this size of card – 6½” x 6¼”. I used the Pinwheel stencils to create the red and green pinwheel garland. I did set A in softer, pastel shades and set B in bold bright shades. I used the stars from the co-ordinating Pinwheel Stamp set and added silver stars. I used a stitched edge mini slimline die to cut out the panel and layered it onto silver holographic card from my stash. The birthday greeting is also from the stamp set.

Inside the card I cut a piece of white card and stamped the ‘let’s party’ sentiment in bold red and added one of the smaller greetings in black ink. I added a few silver stars too. I layered this panel onto silver holographic card and adhered it inside the note card.

Next is an easel card. I made a top folding A2 card (US size 5½” x 4¼”) in dark brown card. I scored it in half and on the top layer scored in half again to create the easel fold. I cut two pieces of white card at 5¼” x 4”. I used the Pinwheel stencils at the top of one piece of card. I flipped the stencil round so that the straight edge ran across the middle of the card. I used four shades of brown ink to create the pinwheels and then used the co-ordinating die to cut along the border. I drew a dark brown line beneath the pinwheels. I stamped a simple birthday greeting in brown in the bottom half of the card. I added tape to the bottom half and adhered it to the lower part of the card.

Inside I added the pinwheel garland to the bottom of the panel using two shades of brown ink. I added a fun greeting at the top of the panel. To keep the card open when in the easel position, I added a die cut pinwheel. I decorated this with one turn of the matching stencil.

I have lots of family birthdays in December and January, and I can see this set coming out to play again. I also have the Snowflake Soiree suite, so I'll probably get that one out to play next week. That’s all from me today. Keep safe. See you next week.
