Potters Bench

Potters Bench

I'm a sucker for anything garden related so I was pleased to see MFT had bought back the Spring Garden die again in it's recent Vault release. I have had fun making this pretty garden scene....

What I like about dies is that you can use them different ways depending on what cardstock you choose and how you colour them. For the bench I used brown card and then pressed the finished piece onto an inked woodgrain background stamp for some added texture. The plant pots are cut in white card which I've coloured using distress inks and then added a piece of patterned paper which is a trimmed down die cut of the same pot.

The watering can is cut from grey card and I used a texture/background stamp in my stash to add some white ink to it for the look of galvanised metal...

The flowers and stems are easier to cut in white card and blend distress ink across them and that way you can use different shades rather than one flat colour and I found it easier to colour the flowers and add detail with markers.

For the backdrop I masked a space with tape and blended a pale cream in from the edges leaving a gap where the bench would sit, I then blended a creamy yellow through the Geo Tri Hex stencil to give a subtle pattern. Then it was just left for me to arrange the plants and tools :)

The scripty sentiment filled the space just perfectly, I went with a birthday card but these dies could be used for lots of occasions.

Thanks for stopping by, catch you next week :)
