Rainbow Birthday

Rainbow Birthday

Hello, good morning! Hope you’re all keeping safe and well. Last weekend was wonderful here in north Wales. It was so hot and sunny. I still managed to find time to play in my craft room and make and bright rainbow birthday card. I’ve been watching lots of on-line videos from various crafting folk and saw one from Jennifer McGuire that inspired this card. I’ve made a rainbow-coloured birthday card with a door that opens to reveal another message.

I started by cutting a piece of white card to 4” x 5¼”. I used the largest of the Hero Arts Oval Peekaboo Doors Infinity dies to cut a piece of masking paper and placed that in the centre of the white panel. Next, I used my stamp positioner and stamped MFT’s large Musical Notes background on the card in Versamark ink, applied clear embossing powder and heat set the image. I used a selection of rainbow dye inks to create an ink blended rainbow background. I love the way the image gets revealed in this technique!

I removed the mask and stamped the balloon image from The Stamping Village Happy Birthday stamp set on the white door. I then used the large peekaboo door die and cut the panel. I used the large peekaboo door die to cut another piece of white card and placed it behind my coloured image. I stamped the musical notes image on some scrap paper. I put coloured image on top of this and pencilled around the inside of the open door. I removed the coloured image and placed the white die cut oval inside the pencilled outline. I then stamped the musical notes again in a soft grey ink. I placed it behind the rainbow panel and used tape to hold the piece in place and stamped another birthday image from The Stamping Village Happy Birthday stamp set on this piece of card. I used Copic markers to colour the image. I cut a piece of black card slightly bigger than the panel and adhered the whole rainbow panel to this and added it to the front of an A2 (US size) card. I finished the front of the card by stamping the balloon image again on white card, coloured with Copic markers and fussy cut the balloons and adhered them with dimensional pads.

On the inside I cut a piece of black card for the mat layer and on the white panel stamped my final birthday image.

The Euro 2020 championship started at the weekend, and I’ve been spending lots of time watching the matches. I have split loyalties, supporting Wales and England. And this afternoon, Wales plays Turkey, and Wales must win!!! It’ll be nail-biting. Anyway, that’s it from me. Thanks for stopping by. Keep safe.
