Rainbows on Cloudy Days

Rainbows on Cloudy Days

My card today is unusal as it's kind of a card on top of a card!  I wanted a trifold card but I also wanted some space to write so by popping my trifold on top of a top fold card you get the best of both worlds.

To create the tri fold parts I used 3 panels - two cut with dies, one stamped and topped with a die cut.

I started with the Sunray Backdrop from Lawn Fawn and die cut it from white card stock using the partial die cutting technique - by placing the top plate of my sandwich 1cm from the left hand edge of die it prevents the die cutting that edge and means I get a flap fold over to create my trifold.  I then used 5 shades of oxides to blend the sunrays from dark to light diagonally.

I used the same partial die cut technique (on the right hand edge this time) for the front panel which was die cut from the new Waffle Flower Special Delivery Paper Pad (will be in store today) and I have to say these "papers" are closer to cardstock weight than paper - best quality papers I've ever used by far.  I used another Lawn Fawn Die - Rainy backdrop - to turn the cloudy sky into a rainstorm.

I added a sentiment to the front on a panel of grey card using Colorado Craft Company's His Best Day stamp.

This was the point of the card - showing that without storms you don't get rainbows so by opening the storm, you see the sun with the rainbow poking through.

For the central panel I stamped the rainbow turnabout from Concord and 9th - I lined it up by eye so its a bit wonky but I don't mind the imperfections as I wanted a bigger bolder rainbow on top.  So I topped it with a layer of vellum and a die cut rainbow on top with a sentiment stamped in Koala Grey Satzon Pigment which sticks to vellum using Waffle Flower Crafts Rainbow sentiment set.

To stick it all together I took the two die cut panels and glued them behind the rainbow central panel, then glue all of that to the front of a top fold A2 card.

Sorry that some of the products are out of stock - but there are lots of alternatives if you search rainbow in store and also lots of you I'm sure will already have these products in your stash as rainbow anything has been selling well since March!   Hopefully this gives you new ideas for ways to put products together and get a new look.

NEWS FROM THE STORE

I am working a little today to try and catch up so will be adding the latest waffle flower releases to store.

The MFT Vault release arrived on Friday so I will get that processed as quickly as I can this coming week.

We have orders in with Altenew, Sugar Pea Designs, Newton's Nook, Lawn Fawn, Hero Arts and Ranger but do not have confrmed shipping dates on any of those at present.   The larger brands are slower as they have been closed longer (indeed some still are) as they have larger warehouses and are therefore running with fewer staff if they are in states which are allowed to open up their businesses.  Some like Hero Arts are still not allowed to have anyone other than the owners in so are months behind in packing orders.   I hope that some stock will arrive in the middle of June but have no further updates at present as to a more precise date.   I announce all new arrivals on Facebook in realtime, I would like to get a newsletter out each time too but they are very time consuming to write and as its just me doing everything right now I can't get one done before stock sells out.

I know sell outs are happening fast - its a very hard balancing act - we are selling less so I have no choice but to order less as otherwise when more brands start to ship we won't be able to pay for the stock!   We will always restock if you ask us to (via the out of stock notifications) but please don't ask for something if you intend to buy it elsewhere.  This protects our cash flow and stops us wasting money on items that won't sell.

Thanks

Tara
