We're in This Together
Hi everyone - hope you're settling in to your new lock down lives, or if you are one of the essential workers, are staying safe and keeping well. My card today is a personal shout out and thank you to all of you who are working hard to get this virus under control - so a big shout out to the doctors, nurses, paramedics, pharmacists, and all the other health care workers, the shop assistants giving us access to food and the delivery drivers getting it to us, the refuse collectors, the posties, the milkmen, the police and fire service (and anyone else I've missed off) - you are are ALL HEROS. I know lockdown is taking its tole on some, and mental health needs to be kept in check, but staying in for a bit isn't nearly as hard as what they're doing so I for one am really glad to be doing my bit and am thankful for a hobby that can distract me.
I used Hero Arts Beautiful World stamp and stamped it onto some heavy weight cartridge paper (I prefer this as its smooth enough for detailed stamps compared to some water colour papers, but you cannot get it as wet so it's a trade off) and coloured it with Altenew's newest water colour paints. If anyone is looking for a treat - then this is a lovely set to gift to yourself. The colours are super-pigmented so the smallest bit goes a VERY long way! Painting is my weakest form of colouring, so I thought I'd use the lockdown to practice and see if I can improve my skills. Are you all planning on practicing something? Do share what - pop on over to our Facebook group for a chat!
To give the image a twist to the current situation, I added a couple of tissues (fussy cut and stuck on from the same card stock after painting) an old Lawn Fawn set - On the Mend. I just cut a slight curve to cut the image out of the tissue box so it sat against the edge of the world.
The sentiment is from the Hero Arts set stamped in Versafine Clair Warm Breeze and I used the same colour to create the base card which is a 5 x 7 inch card base stamped with Hero Arts Abstract Fields background stamp which is an inch shorter than the card base. But as with many background stamps, if the image is abstract, you can simply mask off the bottom line, then roughly match up the stamp and fill in the bottom, particularly if you are putting something over most of the join line as I did here - you can see if it you look closely once you know, but the recipient will be unlikely to spot it!
NEWS FROM THE STORE
Not much news to share at the moment!
We are still open as normal for now, but will be in discussion with the post office to see if we need to move to less collections (as orders are down we don't want to drag them out for a couple of items every day so we may move to 3 collections a week instead if that works for them)
Some necessary development in the back end of the store last week meant it slowed us down so we haven't quite finished adding the Altenew releases to store. We will finish that tomorrow.
It is unlikely that we will have any new releases or restocks in April. As everything comes from the USA and more and more of our suppliers are in lockdown, it's a waiting game. We also have to be careful as the prices have rocketed due to the weakness of the pound against the dollar and as we're all short on funds we don't want to have to put prices up at this difficult time, but currently the difference is so great it would be commercial suicide to place orders right now without doing that. We need to ensure we're still here when life goes back to normal....
