Wreath Card and Bookmarks

Wreath Card and Bookmarks

I did a video on Sunday and then ran out of time to write up the post with the finished projects.   If you missed the video you can see it here on TikTok or here on Instagram   The video gives you the "how to foil" elements in more detail.

I foiled a card with the Altenew Foil Wreath Die and then used the matching stencils to quickly add colour - great if you're mass producing (think invites for example, or gift card packs).  I added a sentiment from The Greetery's Written In Ribbons in the centre and few dots of stickles for added bling to finish.

For the gifts, I used some scraps of leather (check etsy or amazon you'll find bundles of scrap leather quite inexpensively) and the Waffle Flower Ornate Book Mark Die and cut a few in different colours.  Depending on the thickness of your leather (mine is medium weight) a thin die won't cut all the way through, but it will cut enough that you can then finish with scissors or a craft knife.  If you check out the video you can then see that I hot foiled the front of them with the wreath die - you will see there is a little excess foil around the design.   Once these were cool, I put them on a hard surface and gently rubbed an emery board (flat on top) over them to remove the foil on the surface - as the foil design is debossed into the leather that remains without damage.

I also (off camera) made a more masculine design using the Greetery's Deco Triangles Hot Foil plate.

For those of you who don't have a hot foil machine - I also did a painted version.  I simply debossed the die into the leather (still using my hotfoiler in this instance - but you could use an embossing mat with a normal die to get a similar effect) and then used a very thin paintbrush to apply Ranger Distress Paint into the debossed lines.

Hope that gives you some new ideas to try!

Tara
