Hello and Happy Sunday!
I'm feeling good today as we've finally seen some blue sky which meant I could do some crafting (and I've even got the video I'd promised a few weeks ago ready to share for a post later this week too!)
Today though I wanted to share a couple of cards I made with some of the new Lawn Fawn products - with the new Folksy Sprig Border Die being my inspiration point for both cards.
For the first card I wanted to show that the border didn't have to just be a border - it can be a frame too which the help of an old school protractor. I started by cutting the die 4 times from the new blush cardstock which is just the most delicious delicate pink.
To turn it into a frame I measured 2 lengths from the central flower out to be the length of my card and the other two the height and trimmed them on my cutter. Then I used my quilt square but an old school protactor would do the job too. You just need to mark a 45 degree angle from each corner so that when you fit them all together you get a perfect frame around the edge of your card.

Once you've marked your angles, then you just line up your mark with the corner on your cutter and you get the perfect 45 degree cut on each strip.

I poked out all the pattern and just let the white background show through - the corners don't match perfectly pattern wise, but it doesn't look off so I think it works. You could try it with other patterns - even strips of paper.
For the centre, I just went really simple with a rectangle of pink paper from the new Blissful Blossoms paper pad and used some more of the blush card for the outline of the thinking of you sentiment with some guava to layer the words on top (easy to do as the outline gives you embossed details to follow)

When I was poking all the little bits out, I thought about how nice it would look all infilled with other colours as that would up the folksy factor. So I made a second card with the same border die.
This time I cut it from yellow, green an pink, layed the yellow border down the left hand edge of my card and used the dark pink to fill in the flowers, the green the leaves and then I used the left overs from the pale pink borders on the first card to fill in the little dots.
I added some of the yellow patterned paper and a green border and then used the new Daphne's Flower Inlay die from Kristina Werner to create a large focal image. I die cut the base from yellow and then die cut the outline from both pink and green and snipped off the pink leaves and green flowers so I could just have the edges in colour rather than using the infill dies as the set was designed. It's a bit fiddly but doable. Finished with a split sentiment from Kristina's Happy Birthday set.

A couple of very different looks from very similar supplies - hopefully that's inspired you to twist your stash and have a play.
Happy Crafting!
Tara
