Elf-Tastic Christmas Card - Waffle Flower

Elf-Tastic Christmas Card - Waffle Flower

Hi friends, Terri here! I’m so excited to share my very first Christmas card of the season with you. This one is extra fun – I created an elf-inspired design using the Waffle Flower Elf Hat die set!

I started by creating the Elf using the Waffle Flower Elf Hat die set. The main hat was cut from bright red cardstock, with the fringe cut from crisp white cardstock for contrast. For a festive touch, I added a shiny gold mirror card bell to the tip of the hat.

Next, I trimmed a panel of white linen cardstock to 3.75" x 5" and softly ink-blended the lower half with beige ink to mimic skin. I adhered the hat at a playful, jaunty angle, then added a die-cut circle for the nose and a pair of googly eyes. The result? An irresistibly cute little elf face!

To create the card base, I used the Diagonal Stripe Stencil and blended bright red and white pigment inks onto an A2 kraft card.  While that was drying, I stamped my chosen sentiment from the Elf-Tastic set onto white cardstock using black ink, then cut it out with the coordinating die.

After arranging all the elements, I felt the elf panel looked a bit too harsh against the background. To soften it, I rounded the corners with a punch. I adhered the panel to the kraft card base with foam pads for added dimension, then attached the sentiment at a jaunty angle to give the card a fun, playful feel.
