Mole-Inspired Valentine’s Day Card | Lawn Fawn Cardmaking Tutorial

Mole-Inspired Valentine’s Day Card | Lawn Fawn Cardmaking Tutorial

Hello, Terri here! Today I’m sharing a mole-inspired Valentine’s Day card using Lawn Fawn products and Distress Oxide ink blending. This fun handmade card features a soft ombré background, layered hearts, and cute moles from the A Mole Lot of Love stamp set.

Step 1: Create a Distress Oxide Ombré Background

I started by blending Distress Oxide inks in Spun Sugar, Kitsch Flamingo, Worn Lipstick, and Picked Raspberry onto 110lb super smooth white cardstock. Using blending brushes, I applied the colours from light to dark to create a smooth ombré effect—perfect for a Valentine’s Day card background.

Step 2: Add Heart Texture with a Stencil

Next, I used the Outline Hearts stencil and Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide Ink to add hearts across the blended panel. I cut the panel using the largest Stitched Rectangle die to create a 4.25" × 5" background piece, then added Liquid Stardust splatters for subtle sparkle.

Step 3: Stamp and Colour Lawn Fawn Moles

I stamped two moles and a heart from the A Mole Lot Of Love Stamp Set and colored them with alcohol markers. I added highlights with a white gel pen and cut them out using the coordinating A Mole Lot Of Love Die Set.

Step 4: Die-Cut Layered Hearts

I die-cut the largest Lacy Heart Stackables and the largest heart from the Outside In Stitched Heart Stackables using white cardstock. I ink-blended the stitched heart to match the background and adhered both pieces together for a delicate lace-edge look. A few more Liquid Stardust splatters added a soft shine.

Step 5: Assemble the Valentine’s Card

To assemble the card, I mounted the ink-blended panel onto an A2 note card. I layered the die-cut hearts using foam pads for dimension and added a stamped sentiment using the Every Day Sentiment Banners. I also added a small sub-sentiment on one of the hearts and positioned it above the mole with glasses for a playful touch.

Step 6: Add Sparkly Heart Accents

Finally, I used the Tiny Hearts and Stars tag die to cut pink and silver glitter hearts and added them to the card for extra detail and shine.
