I'm a little like a magpie when it comes to shiney things - they draw me in - and the new Shimmer Pastes from Altenew are about as shiny as they come - I was torn which colour to play with first, pyrite was calling me and burnished platinum, well all of them really lol but I decided to go with enchanted gold first.
The card I made is based on our challenge for this month over on our challenge blog and this month we have a technique challenge. You can find all the details on the blog but in essence the challenge this month is to use a die, a stencil and stamp but the key is that they can't be paired with each other (so you can't use a die cut to cut out a stamp and count that as you die, same for the stencil that would colour the stamp or the die cut)
So here for example my die cut is the Flower Focal Die from Waffle Flower, my Stamp Waffle Flower Script Texture and my Stencil Altenew Leaf Drops (currently on sale)
To create the card I started with the stencil, popped it on the edge of the card so I just got one line of super shiny gold paste. Once that was dry I stamped two rows of the widest texture stamp in altenew's enchanted gold pigment ink so the colours matched starting at the bottom of the card. On the top row I rubbed my finger on the words at the start of the lines so there was no straight line of text which would look awkward on this sort of design.
For the flower I die cut it from vellum and I used the paste to paint on the edges - I just put a small blob of paste on a bit of plastic and added a couple of drops of water to make it paintable - it sticks much better to vellum than most paints! As it dried it gave a natural curl to the vellum to give the flower some natural dimension. I used a sharpie to colour the black dot in the centre. Once dry, I added using a little pinflair gel as this holds vellum really easily.
I finished with a black sentiment using the new permanent black pigment ink pads from Altenew which come in two sizes and give a lovely dark and detailed crisp line so perfect for sentiments.
That's all for today - I do hope this challenge will appeal and you'll join in for your chance to win a store voucher!
Happy Crafting!
