Oceans of Love

Oceans of Love

Jen here, and today I’m bringing a little sunshine to your Monday with a quirky beach‑themed card featuring one of my favourite Waffle Flower dies from last summer,  Happy Crabs die set. These cheeky little characters were just begging for a playful scene, so I built the whole card almost entirely from paper.

I started by die‑cutting the crabs from two shades of orange textured card stock I found in my scrap box. Once they were layered together, I couldn’t resist giving them googly eyes, it instantly brought them to life and added that perfect touch of silliness.

For the sandy backdrop, I used kraft card stock and brushed on Vintage Photo Distress Oxide, then stamped over it with Kristina Werner’s Splatter Texture Stamp to give the beach some grainy dimension.

The ocean was even simpler: a piece of blue card stock torn along the edge to mimic rolling waves. To create that foamy shoreline, I sprinkled Lawn Fawn’s chunky white embossing powder along the torn edge and heated it from underneath on low, building up layers until it looked like real surf. Once it cooled, I adhered the waves above the sandy panel.

For the sentiment, I reached for the new Altenew One Go Solid Sentiments Banner Press Plate and its coordinating die. I forgot to prime it (oops), so the impression came out a bit muted but honestly, I loved the softer look. It suited the relaxed beach vibe perfectly. I added the sentiment and popped the crabs into place to finish the scene.

I’ve really fallen back in love with die‑cutting lately. There are just so many fun possibilities, and this card reminded me how much joy there is in simple paper play.

Hope your Monday is a good one.

Jen xx
