I really love the new Happy Post Pigeon from Lesia Zgharda Stamps so as I found a little time to craft last night, I thought I'd make a card with him and as I've been doing some scene building cards for an upcoming magazine commission I thought I'd do another for the blog.
I started by colouring in my happy pigeon using pencils on white card - I added a little metallic paint to get the shimmer you get on the green and purple feathers on their necks, and the cut him out with scissors (easier than you think and its very relaxing - just find a pair of good detail scissors that "fit" your hand and you can cut anything given time and patience!)
To create my scene i just applied a couple of shades of blue oxides (sea salt and chipped sapphire) to create a sky background and sprayed it with water for a starry feel as pigeon post men work whislt we're all asleep ;-) I added a strip of grey card to act as pavement.
Next I die cut the brilliant mail box die from Gummiapan (so love that we have a UK version to add to our stash now instead of just US ones as they look so different!) I just die cut it twice once from red and once from black card and layered it up (you could cut it just from white and colour it)
I used part of Market Place No 1 to create the corner of a post office or house depending on how you view it (is he taking it from the box to the house or is the box with the post office???) Using just part of die gives you different looks and is a really handy trick for scene building as the full die would cover my whole card.
All I did them was glue all the elements in place and finished with a sentiment from the Bold Stripes Greetings Stamp from Kristina Werner which ties into the postal theme but leaves me options for what I want to say inside - always handy to have in your stash for that "emergency" card need.
