Bring on the snow!

Bring on the snow!

I really loved the sketchy designs of the new snowmen and santas from Simon Hurley so decided to play along with Christmas in July whilst there's still a few days of July left!

I made an easy card with just a few supplies. I stamped the three snowmen in morning mist ink by versafine clair, using easy masking of the two outer snowmen to get the one in the middle behind them. By using the soft grey ink its easier to make the snowmen look snowy and you can pick up just the bits you want to be black like the eyes and buttons. I coloured them all quickly with pencils (they're easy to colour as there are shading lines to help) and then used the new Astro Paste just with a paintbrush to add some sparkly texture to the snowmen - I just painted over them and left them to dry. It's hard to photograph but hopefully you can see more of the shimmer here where its still wet and more white but it dries like clear glitter.

Once dried I just used scissors to cut them out with a bit of a border.

For the background I used the snowflakes from the same stamp randomly and embossed them in white. I then sponged some Salty Ocean oxide ink all over and dabbed it off the snowflakes. To add more interest and sparkle I used one of the new Distress Spritz sprays which have the same colour inks in the distress range but added pearlescent pigment so they really sparkle. I just added a few squirts in salvaged patina over the darker blue background and it really added some shimmer.

As all the colours of Versafine Clair are now back in stock as well, I went with a nice bold blue sentiment also from the same stamp set (it's a really big stamp set!) to finish it off.

Happy Crafting!
