I thought I'd share another one of my favourite techniques today - using dies to create the look of an embossing folder. You can do this with lots of dies - flowers work well - but today I've gone with one of the new sentiments from Waffle Flower Crafts - the Vertical Happy Birthday Die.
This is a really easy technique but it is really effective. All you need to do is die cut your chose die (or dies) from the same colour card as your base card - here I went with white as I wanted to layer the same sentiment on top so kept it simple so it stands out well, but you can pick a colour too. Die cut several and then play around until you fill the base card with your dies. TOP TIP - you can use any overlapping bits you cut off to infill in other areas so you don't waste full die cuts for tiny spaces.
Once happy with the layout I glued each down, trimming off an infilling (as above) and then I die cut the Happy once more but from a nice bright blue and stacked that on top centrally (so actually it's the only FULL HAPPY on show) and then added the script birthday die (also from the new release) over the top in navy to complete the sentiment.
I think this makes a great card for a guy - male birthdays can often be tricky if you don't have a stamp or die that matches their hobby - so I like to keep so classic CAS & graphic style cards in my stash for them which is why I picked two shades of blue for this one.
Do have a go at this technique and share your makes with us if you do!
Happy Crafting!
