We got the Lawn Fawn release early this week so it gave me time to make a quick card to celebrate release day. I went with the super cute Simply Celebrate Critters and the associated sentiments from the Simply Celebrate Critters Add-on Die. I really like the simplicity of these stamps (can you see what they did with the name there lol!) and wanted to make it even more CAS by going one layer.
I stamped the bird stamp in versafine black and masked off just the birds by cutting masks by hand - you could use the matching die if you're not a fussy cutter but you will get a white border around them. Once masked, I used the Speech Bubble Backdrop Die to cut some speech bubbles from masking paper and lined them up at the bottom edge, and masked off the edges of the card. I used Peacock Feathers Oxide ink to colour over the masks. Once the masks are removed this gives you a solid background but nice bright white speech bubbles and birds ready to be coloured.
I stamped the sentiments into the speech bubbles and then used a yellow copic marker to colour the birds, adding some details with pencils over the top. I felt it needed a little something to lift it so added a strip of yellow textured card to balance out the birds.
I hope you like it - now time to get packing as Lawn Fawn release days are always super busy for us.
