How to Make a Shaped Card with Large Dies

How to Make a Shaped Card with Large Dies

I could not wait to play with the new Jolly St Nick set from Concord and 9th - the Santa is exactly as the name suggests - jolly and really fun to use.  The Stamp, Die and Stencil set gives you lots of opportunities to create different designs but I loved how large the die was so he's perfect for making shaped cards.  People often ask how to do that, and it's super easy when you know the trick!

Santa Face Shaped Cards by Tara Cardwell for Seven Hills Crafts, UK, using Jolly St Nick collection by Concord and 9th

I created these cards on a video which you'll find on our YouTube channel, but essentially the trick to remember if you want to turn any die into a shaped card is to "overhang" the die on a fold line to create a hinge  - this means your base card won't have the full shape of the die, but you top it with your decorated layer to hide the hinge.   Just fold card in half, and then hang the die over the folded edge by around about 1cm - as below.

Add a layer on top and your card is done!   Watch the video for tips on how to line up the stencil to colour Santa's face.
