Hello, Terri here! Today I’m sharing a cute and crafty project: a mole-themed slimline shaker card made using Lawn Fawn stamps and dies.

I began this project by creating the background, since it sets the tone for the entire card. I trimmed a piece of Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock to 3.5" x 8.5" and started building the layers of soil using several shades of brown ink applied with blending brushes. I used the Hillside Borders Stencils to do this. To add extra texture and visual interest, I flicked on some inky splatters.
Once the soil was complete, I masked it off and created a grassy layer using the Grassy Hillside Stencils. By flipping the stencil and using the opposite edge as a mask, I was also able to blend a soft, inked sky above the scene.

Next, I moved on to creating the maze shaker window. I used the Slide On Over Maze Die to cut a maze shape from the background panel, making sure to save the die-cut piece for later. On the back of the inked panel, I adhered a piece of acetate to form the shaker window.
Using shaker foam strips, I built a secure well around the maze opening—taking care to leave no gaps so the sequins wouldn’t escape. After that, I adhered the maze die-cut piece onto my slimline card base, positioning it directly beneath the opening. I sprinkled sequins over the maze, then carefully placed the inked panel on top, sealing everything together to form the interactive shaker element.

Now it was time to create the images that would bring the scene to life. I stamped images from A Mole Lot of Flowers Stamp A Mole Lot of Love Stamp A Mole Lot of Love Add-On Stamp onto 110lb super–smooth white cardstock using Memento ink. I coloured all the images with my alcohol markers, adding white gel pen highlights for extra detail and dimension. Once everything was completely dry, I cut out the images using the coordinating dies. (A Mole Lot of Love Die A Mole Lot of Flowers Die A Mole Lot of Love Add-On Die)
I adhered the images to the scene using a strong wet glue, placing the little flowers throughout for a touch of whimsy. I also found a butterfly and flight trail on my desk, so I added those to the sky as well. To help tie everything together, I stamped a couple of the heart-shaped speech bubbles and worked them into the scene. Finally, I white heat-embossed a sentiment onto black cardstock and added it to the sky.

This project came together so well. It took a bit longer than my usual cards, but I enjoyed every minute of the process.
