Hi, Terri here! Today I’m sharing a vintage-style Christmas card featuring the Jolly St. Nick Product Suite from Concord & 9th. I began by die-cutting the Jolly St Nick Die, then used the Jolly St Nick Stencil set to add all his charming facial features and classic hat. I chose to make his hat green—a nod to the traditional colour before it was famously changed to red in the 1930s by brands like Coca-Cola. To finish, I stamped and die-cut the leaves and berries using the Jolly St Nick Stamp, adding them as festive accents to his hat for a touch of holiday cheer.
To create the background, I started with the striped stencil and applied a light blend of red ink. I didn’t want it to look perfect — I was aiming for a soft, vintage feel. Next, I flipped the stencil over and inked again to form a diagonal plaid pattern. To add more texture and depth, I flicked some brown ink across the panel. Once it was dry, I lightly inked the edges with brown to complete the aged effect.
I stamped the “HO HO HO” sentiment in dark brown ink and die-cut it using the coordinating die. To tie it in with the rest of the card, I added some ink blending around the edges. I adhered the plaid background panel to an A2 white card base, then attached the Jolly St. Nick die cut on top. The speech bubble was placed on the right-hand side, perfectly aligned so that the pom-pom on Santa’s hat slightly overhangs the bubble, adding extra depth and dimension to the design.
I decided that St. Nick’s beard looked a little sparse, so I stamped another sentiment onto it — I think it really enhances the overall composition of the card. I love how this one turned out! It’s so different from what I usually make, and I’m sure I’ll be sharing more cards from this set soon.
