Whales and Jeans

Whales and Jeans

You might find my card today a little bit weird - whales in the sky not the sea - but I promise it makes sense.  Last year I was completely transfixed by show on Netflix called Extrodinary Attorney Woo (it's Korean but dubbed or subtitled) which is just the cutest show - the main character is on the spectrum and obsessed with whales - when she gets an "aha" moment on a case, she often sees whales flying around her and she always wears a beige suit so hopefully that makes my card make sense!

I created a soft pink sky with a cloud stencil and tattered rose ink then stamped a couple of whales from the new Me and My Whales stamp from Mama Elephant, added a base colour with copics and some detailed shading over the top with pencils before fussy cutting as I didn't want the white from the matching die.  For Attorney Woo herself I used one of the characters from Me and My dragon and just changed the trowsers to a skirt.

I really loved the whales and had an idea ages ago to try the Acrylic Markers from Altenew on jeans and we used to paint designs on t-shirts with acrylic paint in the 90s as it won't wash out when dry.   So I took an old pair of jeans to have a go on and I think they would be super cute for kids!   I stamped the whale in white pigment ink and then used the markers to colour it in (going over the lines)  You can layer colour by allowing it to dry fully inbetween layer and mix the colours by layering without drying!

And then I thought, well what about my jeans?  I might not want a whale, but a flower would be fine on ladies jeans right?   I stamped the flower and leaves (masking the flower with a scrap of paper) from Paradise Flowers onto the other pocket and used the same pens to colour it in.

You can use the pens to colour in any fabric (pop a layer of card inbetween layers especially on something like a t-shirt or tote bag to stop the colour going through to the back layer as well) and once it's fully dry it will be washable at 30 degrees (although it will fade with continued washing eventually)

NEWS FROM THE STORE

We've added the brand new colours from the Versafine range to store this week and they're delicious!  https://sevenhillscrafts.co.uk/brands/tsukineko.html

The new Waffle Flower release is due in the USA in 3 days but ours won't be here until next week as we're waiting on a couple of items that are late (and restocks on all the postal collage range and last months seagulls)   What is exciting though is that GRIP MATS WILL BE BACK with this delivery in all sizes (including a new size)

We're working on some new grab bags too so look out for big bags of value coming your way very soon as we need to clear out some space in the warehouse (otherwise known as our back bedroom!)

Happy Crafting!
