Sorry there is no Natalia on the blog this week - she's taking a little time out for some family commitments but she will be back soon I promise - in the meantime, you're going to get bored of my stuff as I will be filling in as and when I can.
I was really pleased when Gummiapan finally got their Bowling Die back in stock recently as ever since I saw it on our first order as out of stock I have been not so patiently waiting for it as I really wanted to make a bowling alley card with it!
It's a pretty simple make - I just die cut the pin x10 from white card and used an off-white marker to add a little shading on one side to add to the 3D nature and a burgundy to add the double stripe around the neck. I cut the ball from white glitter paper as I wanted that funky sparkly look you get on balls particularly if they turn on cosmic bowling!
The alley is all hand cut and drawn by me - it stretched my geometry skills a little but it worked OK in the end. I drew a centre line on some kraft and marked 2.5cm on either side at the top and 5cm either side on the bottom (14cm long - the length of my card) and then cut the sides off - this gave me the alley getting further away from me. I drew my lines in the same way - marking 0.5cm gaps at the top and 1cm gaps at the bottom and joining them up.
I added a strip of grey card to make the gulleys and just pushed them behind by eye (the right is a bit fatter than the left so my eye was wonky lol!) I created a panel across the back with black card and some brown strips to create the hole for the pins to be knocked into and added a scoring strip with enamel dot lights over the top of that.
Then it's a case of lining up the pins, 4 at the back, 3 in the gaps between those, then 2 and one at the front. I added my ball so it was just about to hit perfectly for a strike!
The sentiment is another Gummipan die - there are several Happy Birthday dies to choose from but I liked this one best for this card as the size fit with everything going back in perspective as it's a nice large font.
I think this is a great theme for those trickier masculine makes and once you crack the geometry (hopefully I've done the hard thinking for you now!) then it's actually a pretty quick make too.
